Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first woman to be elected vice president, and is also the most powerful female officer in the history of America. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she served as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010, and was elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election to become the second African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and cannabis legalization, a path to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. National attention was gained for her sharp examination of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
